Who looks after your data

Ectosoft runs CuteHoroscopes and looks after the data on this page. The company's full name is on the Terms page, and the Contact page reaches us.

What we collect, and why

Birth details

A name, a birth date, an optional birth time and a birth place, which we turn into map coordinates and a time zone. For a two-person reading, the same for the other person. We use them to calculate charts and readings.

Your account, if you make one

Your email address, your name (your first and last name from Google, or the start of your email address if you sign in by email), your Google profile picture if you sign in with Google, and how you signed in. At each sign-in we note the time, your IP address and your browser's language and time zone, replacing the previous ones, and we count your sign-ins. We use these to run the account and keep it safe.

Your profile, if you save one

The birth details on it and the optional fields you fill in, such as gender.

Purchases

What you entered for the reading, the reading itself, the email address you gave at checkout, the amount paid and Stripe's reference numbers. We use them to build the reading, send it to you and handle refunds.

The free compatibility calculator reads two birth dates to find the Sun signs, and stores nothing.

How long we keep it

Free previews

Birth details entered for a free preview are used to compute it and deleted within 30 days of their last use, unless you save them to an account or buy a reading with them. A two-person preview's result is deleted 30 days after it was worked out.

Checkouts you never finish

The birth details you entered are deleted by a daily clean-up once they are 7 days old.

A paid reading we could not deliver

We keep its details for 30 days while we put it right, then delete them.

Delivered purchases

The details stay with the reading for as long as your account exists, so we can rebuild it, reprint a poster and fill in the form for your next reading. If a purchase was never attached to an account, the copy of the form we keep for rebuilding it is deleted 30 days after delivery. The reading itself includes the birth details it was made from, and we keep it until you ask us to delete it.

Your account

Until you ask us to delete it. Your profile, your purchases and any unused credits are deleted with it, and any chart left behind goes in the 30-day clean-up.

Private links and share links

Bought without signing in? Your reading gets a private link of its own. It opens the full reading and its downloads, works for 30 days after the reading is ready, and is never sent to Stripe. We email it to you, and the browser tab remembers it until you close the tab. Anyone who has the link can open the reading, so keep it to yourself.

We also keep the reading under the email address you gave at checkout, creating an account for that address if there is none, so you can sign in later and find it in My Reports.

Share links are separate, and exist only if you make one. A shared reading shows names, Sun signs and the reading text. It never shows birth dates, times, places or the chart wheel. Chart Posters cannot be shared by link. To switch a share link off, write to us.

Who else handles it

Stripe

Takes card payments, and your card details go straight to Stripe. We send Stripe the product you chose, your email address if you are signed in, our own reference numbers and the campaign tags of the link that brought you, if it had any; never names or birth details. Stripe tells us the email address you gave and whether the payment went through. Payments run on Ectosoft's Stripe account, which also takes payments for Ectosoft's other sites.

Brevo

Sends the email that delivers a paid reading: your email address, the reading's name and its link.

Google

If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us. The site's fonts also load from Google Fonts, so your browser fetches them from Google.

Cloudflare

The sign-in form can ask Cloudflare Turnstile to check that you are a person.

GeoNames

When you search for a birth place, our server sends the words you type to GeoNames, a place-name directory, to find it.

Charts are calculated on our own server, and your data lives in our own database. No outside astrology service sees your birth details.

Cookies and browser storage

• Sign-in cookies keep you signed in, once you sign in.
• A cookie called ch-sign remembers the sign you pick on the Daily page, for up to a year.
• Session storage keeps a guest's private reading link in that browser tab until the tab closes.
• There are no advertising or analytics cookies.

Your choices

• To delete your account, write to us from the email address on it, and we delete it with everything attached to it. Stripe keeps its own record of any payment.
• To get a copy of your data, or to correct it, write to us.
• Someone entered your birth details? Free previews clear themselves within 30 days of their last use. A paid reading keeps the birth details it was made from. If you would like a reading removed, or a preview removed sooner, write to us.
